Motherhood

He Spoils Us

Time and time again our fourth child has blown us away with his easy going, flexible, happy-go-lucky approach to life. It has made the transition to a family of 6, for this family on-the-go, SO MUCH easier—a fact I am truly, truly grateful for. This weekend, he really went above and beyond our expectations though. Not only did he fall asleep in the tent both nights, while the rest of us were out at the camp fire, but he even napped in the tent Saturday morning.

Desiring to be a Woman of Faith

Years ago my Mom and I attended a Women of Faith Conference…I believe our first was when I was in college. We drove to Cleveland, OH to attend the conference. We left refreshed and inspired and vowing to make it a tradition to attend some sort of spiritual conference together as often as we could. Since then, we’ve attend Women of Faith, Beth Moore, and a few women’s retreats together. I appreciate the opportunity to worship, and grow alongside my mom.

Everyday Fun

It’s been a good week at the circus. Nothing incredibly note worthy, but fun times all around… thought I’d share a few pictures from our week. I love summer… seriously love it. Love the long daylight hours… love the freedom… even love the hot summer sun.  How about you? What are some of your highlights from the week?

A Few Little Gems

While looking through pictures recently, I stumbled across a few which truly captured life at the circus in its essence. Exhibit A: taken in December of 2010 Here they are working on the pine wood derby car for Cub Scouts. Notice how everyone, even the baby, is in on the action? Noticed the leotard? My girls wear leotards every.single.day…. even though gymnastics is only twice a week, I can guarantee you those leotards are on more often than that.

The way They Love Him

As Scott and I worked to put together the scrapbook and video collage for our son’s 1st birthday, we looked at lots and lots of pictures and video clips. As we did, one reoccurring theme, was brought to mind. This boy is adored by his siblings. He really has been from day 1. And by day 1, I mean, the day Scott and I told them about the baby in my belly.

Turning Back Time

Ya know that feeling you get when you look at your kids and you just wanna freeze time? You don’t want them to grow up, not one bit, so you just try your best to hold on to the moments while you can. Well, we figured out a way to freeze time here at the circus…just a little… Our littlest crew member turned one earlier this month. Not sure how that year flew by so fast.

Feeling Insignificant?

Last week after telling my kids the Bible story of baby Moses, I decided to offer a little application for them. I pointed out how neat it was that God took care of Moses as a baby by allowing the princess to find him. I even told how amazing it was that his own mother was allowed to take care of him before he went to live at the palace. After discussing how Moses grew up in the Egyptian palace, I pointed out how God used that later in his life when Moses led the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt.

When You Care Enough to Send the Very Best

Before having kids, I used to go to my local Hallmark store and browse the selection of cards. It seemed there was always SOMEONE who could benefit from a little Hallmark cheer. I love cards. LOVE them… and prior to having kids I was pretty good about buying and sending them. Somehow though bringing 2, then 3, now 4 active kids into a card store lost its appeal… something about them reaching out of their strollers and pulling card after card onto the floor while I was trying to find that perfect card made it loose its charm.

My Gifts This Mothers Day

I am sure Scott and the kids have something planned for me on Sunday… or at the very least, I am sure by Sunday morning they will have something planned for me on Mother’s Day. They never fail to make me feel cherished. But the truth is, as I ponder this Mother’s Day, I can’t help but give thanks for the many gifts they’ve already given me… those precious moments each and every day, which I long to bottle up and savor forever…

Some Call it Crazy…

This spring I have 3 kids in sports. On 3 different teams. This in addition to the girls both taking gymnastics twice a week and Cub Scouts. We are busy, busy, busy with games and practices most every night… some nights we’re even double booked. Many people look at my schedule and call me crazy. Why do you do this to yourself? The answer is, honestly, two fold. 1. We love it.
