What is it about stick of butter that my children find so irresistible? Why is it when I have the forethought to set the butter out on the counter to soften, my children see it as invitation to squish it? At least this time, they didn’t use their fingers and smear it all over the counters.
Thankfully, it wasn’t butter to be spread on bread, but instead I am hoping to bake some cookies this afternoon.
The hunt begins…
Gloves?
Check.
Tree cart?
Check.
Now to find the perfect tree.
“How about this one I suggest?”
“No, that looks like an angel tree,” my son says. “We need to find a star tree.”
My son doesn’t like when there are too many branches on the bottom as they are harder to cut down. (We always pick spruces and they are quite painful and prickly).
Is someone there?
Nope…
Oh, yes there is…..
That girl sure makes me smile. I don’t want to overdo it but I had to at least provide a link to just one more of my favorites from this series for those so inclined.

1. Two rakes and three kids does not make for a happy equation. 2. Make sure your kids have their shoes securely tied before you begin raking. Otherwise you could rake a pile like this only to have your son tell you it was time to go on a “treasure hunt” to find his missing shoes in said pile.
3. If your going to jump into the pile with the kids, don’t wear baggy jeans.

One of my favorite parts about home schooling has been the field trips. We have tutorial sessions on Mon and Wed. Tues we have school at home and typically it is a catch up day for me around the house. I try to keep Tuesdays open as I need that day to just be at home. Thursdays we have school at home, plus BSF in the morning, and often a play date over lunch.

Super Girl Bumblebee the Transformer
And our Little Kangaroo
We had a wonderful time playing with and visiting with our neighbors, dressing up in costumes, and begging for candy.
In the past month, these pictures were taken during meal time at our home. I can assure you that these antics don’t take place regularly around here, but at the same time, they do happen. After all, it is the circus.
Exhibit A: playing with our food
“Look Mom, I can make vowels with my spaghetti!”
Exhibit B: Yes, that would be my son eating his applesauce while sitting on his Daddy’s shoulders (and yes, to make it truly circus like, he’s in his underwear).
I love this picture. I love it because it shows the kids and my husband engaged in play after a long day of work.
I also love how the big kids seem to be attacking him b/c he’s got the youngest on his shoulders. Almost as if they are trying to get in on the action and attention. But take a closer look, because if you check out Scott’s face, you’ll find another gem.
