My father in law graduated from the Naval Academy, so I became a Navy fan by marriage. And the biggest game of the year for them is the Army/Navy game.
Knowing this, you might better appreciate the conversation I had with my son yesterday…
Mom: Tomorrow is the Army/Navy football game
Son: Army doesn’t play football, they fight bad guys
Hmmm see he’s seen Navy football games with his Dad and Pop, and all he knows about the Army is that his Uncle Jim and our cousin Joel are in the Army and they fight bad guys…better clear up this misconception before he goes around saying Navy plays football and Army fights bad guys…
12 years ago Scott and I went on our first date. We went to dinner and then strolled around the shops in downtown Annapolis for midnight Madness.
I was so excited and nervous.
This was my first REAL date.
And what could be more romantic than strolling through historic Annapolis listening to Christmas carols?
Even though we didn’t hold hands, (That didn’t come until February). I was still on cloud nine.
When I was pulling out Christmas decorations from the storage closet I came across a box of pictures…perfect for my weekly blast from the past post. (I’ve got a few more set aside for the upcoming weeks).
If you notice, there is a Christmas tree in the background here. Every week my family did an advent devotional on Sunday evenings. We’d read a passage of Scripture, light the candle and sing some Christmas carols.
Today I spent my “down time” working on some Christmas projects which needed to be finished so I could get them ordered and shipped. Then, I went about figuring out our Christmas card and ordering them.
Because, No… I have not mailed my Christmas cards.
And until 5 minutes ago, I hadn’t even ordered them from Winkflash
Which means I have yet to address them or write our Christmas letter.

Yesterday I stumbled across this article in Wonder Magazine.
My husband and I have been doing lots of talking and planning regarding our family’s future… Do we want a fourth child or are we content with three? Do we want to send our son to public school next year or will we home school? Do we start saving now so we have the option of sending the kids to private school for Middle or High School?
The kids were treated to a few inches of snow at Grandma and Grandpa’s last week. It was just enough for some sledding!
It’s easy to see that a good time was had by all. Doesn’t my baby look like an oompa loompa? I gotta confess I had quite a few laughs at her expense watching her try to walk around in her big sisters boots and snow suit.
At our house, the rule is No Christmas anything until after Thanksgiving. My hubby is pretty strict about this…He even scolded my grandma on Thanksgiving for wearing a Christmas sweater.
But, come the day after Thanksgiving you better believe we are cranking those yuletide carols as loud as we can as we head out for some good ol' fashioned Black Friday Shopping!
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! It is by far my most favorite holiday of all.
My son came home from school the other day with a craft he had made listing the things he was thankful for. They were
Mommy and Daddy (yea, we made the list) his sisters (doesn’t this just warm your heart) toast ice cream This list was quite insightful to me. Who know that toast got such high billing? I’ll be sure to have toast around more often now that I know how much he values it.
